Unscrew and remove old filter and gasket Properly dispose of the used filter according to local regulations. Wipe filter head with a clean cloth. Fill with oil on the dirty side per engine manufacturer recommendations. Apply a thin film of clean motor oil to the gasket. Align threads and spin on filter until gasket contact.

Follow icons on filter to tighten. Check oil level. Start engine and check for leaks.

The Cummins L10 (for 10 liter) was introduced in 1982 to answer the need for a lighter, more compact engine in the European market. It marks the return to an inline design, with the intent to maximize power in a smaller space. The model was discontinued in 1998. The Cummins M11 (for 10.8 liter displacement) is based of the L10, and was commercialized in 1994. M Series engines have a 6-cylinder inline configuration. As technological advancements were made with electronic controls, the series evolved to include the ISM (Interact System) and QSM (Quantum System) models.
